Naturalist Walk With Neuse River Hawks June 27th, 10 a.m.

The Naturalist walk will begin at the Traditions pool, located at Traditions Grande Blvd near Wait Avenue. Although the trail is used frequently by hikers and mountain bikers, small wildflower habitats can still be found adjacent to the trail. We hope to see some of the four species of native orchids that are found in these locations. Along the edge of the lake, flowering shrubs and vines and small populations of wetland wildflowers are present. Waterfowl and herons are often seen in the inlets and along the shore. The dam itself also supports a small colony of nesting swallows, which are easy to observe at close range.

The location of the reservoir and nearby parking can be found here:

The Neuse River Hawks are a chapter of the North Carolina Wildlife Federation.
